Why bathrooms are different

The Smallest Room Takes the Hardest Beating

A bathroom packs steam, standing water, daily wear and soap chemistry into a few square feet, and the materials you choose have to survive all of it. In Port St Lucie the humidity is high for much of the year, which means a bathroom that is poorly sealed or poorly ventilated tends to show it first: lifting grout, stained caulk, a musty corner behind the vanity.

Most homes here are built on concrete slabs. That is good for stability and bad for surprises: moving a shower drain or a toilet means working in the slab, so the best remodel plans respect where the plumbing already sits and put the money into what you see and touch every day, such as tile, glass, lighting and the vanity.

The bathrooms in the photos below show the kind of work homeowners ask for most: frameless glass enclosures, herringbone and marble-look tile, recessed shower niches, floating and double vanities, and freestanding tubs.

What a Bathroom Remodel Can Cover

Showers and enclosures

Walk-in showers with tile walls, niches and frameless glass, or a tub-and-shower combination refreshed with new tile and trim.

Tile and flooring

Wall and floor tile in porcelain and marble-look patterns, set on a prepared, waterproofed surface.

Vanities, mirrors and lighting

Single or double vanities, floating or furniture-style, with mirrors and fixtures that match the room.

Layout changes

Where the plumbing allows, shifting a tub or shower footprint to open up the room. We tell you up front what the slab makes easy and what it makes costly.

Why R&M for bathrooms

Detail Work Is Where Bathrooms Succeed

A good bathroom is made of small decisions: how the shower floor slopes toward the drain, where a niche is framed, how tile lines meet at a corner. Those are the parts you cannot fix later without tearing something out, so they get the owner's attention while the job is open.

Roberto Calvi handles the planning conversation and stays on the job, so the person who promised the layout is the person building it.

Bathroom Remodeling FAQ

Can I replace my tub with a walk-in shower?

Often, yes, but it depends on the room. In most Florida homes the drain runs through a concrete slab, so the shower pan can only move so far without breaking concrete. We check where the plumbing sits at the walkthrough and tell you what is possible before you commit to anything.

Which tile holds up best in a Florida bathroom?

Porcelain is the safe pick for showers and floors because it absorbs almost no water. Large-format porcelain and small mosaic or herringbone patterns both work; the pattern changes the grout lines and installation time more than it changes durability.

Do I need a permit for a bathroom remodel?

It depends on the scope. A cosmetic swap of a vanity or fixtures is treated differently than moving plumbing, changing electrical or altering the shower footprint. Tell us what you want changed and we will explain what is likely to need a permit during the walkthrough.

How long will my bathroom be out of service?

That comes down to scope. A refresh that keeps the layout moves much faster than a full gut with new waterproofing and tile. After the walkthrough your free quote includes a realistic schedule, and if the bathroom is your only one we plan the work so you are without it for as short a stretch as possible.
